Hello loves, let’s talk a little about gallery walls today. I have always had a thing for collages ever since my first apartment. So when we purchased our home I knew I wanted to create a giant one going down our stairs. At first it started with some mismatched frames and evolved over time but recently I decided to add some bigger pieces as well as more antiques. And I’m in love! I not only added my favorite antique window but also this gorgeous arched window frame and gather sign from the Etsy shop Feather and Birch. I have been eying these beauties for a while now so when I received this happy mail I was literally jumping for joy. Especially this arched window because it would look perfect styled on a mantle or any tabletop. They also sell some amazing wood cut signs, window frames, hand painted signs, unfinished pieces and much more. So head over to their Etsy shop and fill your home with their beautiful creations, you can thank me later.
Hello loves, happy Sunday. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend 🙂 If you couldn’t already tell my weekends have been crazy busy, filled with projects galore. I don’t know if I caught a second wind after taking more than a six month break from major projects but all of a sudden I became determined to finish our home. And when your working with a tight budget it always takes some time and lots of DIYs. We recently made some major changes to our farmhouse bedroom so I couldn’t help but change things up in the master bath. Although this space is farrrr from finished these stunning mason jar lights from The Lamp Goods add the perfect farmhouse touch. They also sell some seriously gorgeous mason jar chandeliers, ceiling lights and sconces. As well as different types of glass, milk glass and industrial lighting. This particular beauty comes with both three and four lights and comes in antique black, rubbed bronze and nickel. The best part is that it’s less than $200, how can you go wrong? Now I just need to add some shiplap walls, find the perfect antique vanity and some gorgeous rustic mirrors then our bathrrom will be complete!! If your on the hunt for the perfect farmhouse lighting fixture for your home make sure to check out The Lamp Goods, you can thank me later.
Ahhh I’m seriously sooo excited to share this post with you guys. I have been talking about this DIY mantle for over a month now and I could not wait to share this beauty with you guys. I know it may seem weird to build your own “antique” mantle but I have been eyeing vintage pieces for years now but they are crazy expensive. And as a girl on a budget you know I’ve been stalking Craigslist, but unfortunately I had no luck. Then one day we went to check out a mantle I found for $100 and as soon as my boyfriend saw it he turns to me and says, “why don’t we just build one”. And I was sold! We are lucky that he can collect wood at work so we gathered seven pine boards and got to work. We used a 2×6 for the mantle and cut it 40″ long. We then used a 1×8 for underneath the mantle and cut it 36″ long. Then for the the legs we used two 1x6s and cut them 30″ long. And finally we used four 1x4s and cut two on them 38″ and two of them 30″ to box in the legs of the mantle (You can change the dimensions to whatever size fits your space the best). After we screwed this baby together we used our hand sander to smooth down any rough egdes. Then comes the fun part, I stained the entire thing in briarsmoke from Varathane and then chalk painted and distressed to finish it off. I’m still looking to add some more character, I’m thinking some corbels under the mantle but I love how it looks so far. To add a cozy feel we cut a piece of plywood to the size of the fireplace and painted it black. We then found a birch tree in our back yard and cut slices with our table saw. After letting them dry for a few days I used wood glue to attach them to the plywood and let that dry overnight. To add the perfect finishing touch I used a glue gun to attach some moss I found at Michaels. Then we secured this piece inside and wallah, the perfect and inexpensive DIY fireplace. It will add the perfect cozy feel to any space, enjoy.
Hello loves, if you guys couldn’t already tell by my Instagram posts we have been working on SOOO many projects. One of the bigger ones being our bedroom. For the last nine months I have only been sharing a little corner of our bedroom because the other half wasn’t finished at all. Then one day last month while laying in bed I decided that enough was enough and I needed to finish the space. Luckily we didn’t have too much to do. I painted our blue antique bureau white, we built our diy mantle (post coming very soon) and I got these gorgeous wooden arrows from the Etsy shop East Brook Drive. They seriously fit this space perfectly and complete this corner of the room. And not only are they amazing but also inexpensive. A set of three costs $29 and they come in a few different stains, how can you go wrong? So if your looking for something to fill out a spot on your wall make sure to head over to East Brook Drive and check out their wooden arrows, tea towels, burlap prints and much more. Enjoy.
Hello loves, I have a super exciting post to share today! We finally found a lighting fixture from Birch Lane and I’m head over heels in love. This beaded beauty replaced the hideous fan that hung in the living room, and now I can share our cathedral ceilings! Plus it definitely gives a more shabby chic look to this space which you know I’m all about. And if you love all things home decor and haven’t checked out Birch Lane yet than your missing out. They sell everything from lighting to sofas and all decor and furniture items in between. I seriously love their slipcovered sofas and rustic decor. And don’t get me started on their classic farmhouse collection! If your swooning over this beaded chandelier like I am than head over to Birch Lane and check out their amazing decor for yourself, you can thank me later.
Hello loves, hooray it’s Friday. I wanted to share our little entryway space for the first time in a while. Especially since I finally found the perfect additions to fill our antique crate under the bench. These vintage textile spools from Aslan Gathered Goods look super cute layered in this space and I couldn’t be happier. And as someone who has a serious obsession with all things antique I was jumping for joy when I received the sweetest happy mail from their shop. I was swooning over all the vintage goodies but these amazing spools may be my favorite. I’m also lovinggg the Massachusetts cow print because that’s where I’m from! So that beauty has found the perfect spot hanging on my gallery wall. If you have an obsession with all things chippy, antique and shabby chic make sure to click here and check out their amazing goodies, you can thank me later.
Hello loves, I wanted to talk a little bit about my candle obsession today. And I’m not talking about the typical Yankee Candle or Bath and Body works candles but I’m head over heels in love with these handmade soy mason jar candles. Not only do they smell amazing but they look perfect styled throughout our shabby chic farmhouse. Back in the day I was all about any scent from Bath and Body works but you pay $20 for one candle and I just feel like the quality and packaging does not compare to some of the handmade ones out their. Especially these beauties from the Etsy shop Baitx Maid. I was so excited to become a brand rep and represent their amazing company. They were so sweet to let me try three of their scents in pumpkin souffle, pumpkin pie and creme brûlée. And I can honestly say I absolutely love all of them (although pumpkin pie my be my favorite). It’s the perfect combination of sweet pumpkin and cinnamon anddd I cannot get enough. The best part is these stunning candles come in both 4oz and 12oz sizes and the prices range anywhere from $5 to $18. How can you go wrong? Plus use code Kaley20 for 20% off your purchase. They also sell 4oz custom wedding and shower favors with personalized labels that are perfect for any occasion. If you have an obsession with candles like I do than make sure to head over and check out their amazing shop, you can thank me later.
Hello loves, I’m seriously so excited about the changes we’ve been making to our bedroom. After almost a year of living here we haven’t changed this space much since the first couple of months. I think it was partially because we burnt ourselves out and partially because I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted. Then a few weeks back I started really thinking about it and I figured out that I only needed a few cozy touches to complete this space. One of the biggest ones being a rug! And although I already knew that this room was in desperate need of something I just couldn’t find the perfect one until I stumbled upon this beauty from Rugs USA. It’s definitely my go to rug site because they not only have a huge selection but their rugs are also super affordable. Plus we purchased the jute area rug in our living room from their site and I’m still head over heels in love so I was sure I could find the perfect addition to our farmhouse bedroom as well. And this 5’x7′ shag greek flokati rug was definitley the one. It seriously makes this room look so warm and inviting but the best part is that it sells for only $183!! ANDDDD right now they are having a Presidents Day sale so all rugs are 70% plus an additional 25% off anddd free shipping! How can you go wrong? So head over to Rugs USA and add the perfect cozy feel to your home, you can thank me later.
Hello loves, now that we have been in our home for almost a year I’m really working on those finishing touches. By finishing touches I mean that I’m filling out the little corners of our farmhouse that have been left bare and finding the perfect pieces to fill them. And although I think our kitchen is absolutely perfect I have been on the hunt for something amazing to hang on this corner next to our fridge. And when I stumbles across this gorgeous antique drying rack from Home Sweet Tree I knew I had to have it. I just love how it fits this space and it gives me another excuse to display our Rae Dunn Mugs. Unfortunately it’s hard to get a better angle of this beauty because it’s directly next to two windows that make the lighting too bright and washes out the photo but luckily it looks amazing no matter what. They were also so sweet to send me a canvas bag that I’m head over heels in love with too. The best part is they sell so many more awesome vintage goodies like lighting, wall hooks, more drying racks and much more. If you are all about chippy and antique pieces like I am than you will absolutely love this shop, so head over to Home Sweet Tree and check it out. And use code TLWF15 for 15% off this rack, enjoy.
Hello loves, happy Friday! Ahhh I get so excited for the weekends. Especially after a long work week. I’m sure I’ve told you guys before but I’m a dental assistant at a pediatric office and the kids were seriously crazy this week. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love kids but I think if I hear one screaming child this weekend I will loose it haha. But weekends are definitely my favorite. Time for a little TLC and my favorite thing ever, blogging!!! I love sharing gorgeous decor pieces with you guys and I have been all about signs lately. And this beauty from the Etsy shop The American Farmhouse is seriously my jam. I love the simplicity of the black and white writing with the wooden frame and the fact that it says “farm fresh produce” makes it perfect for the kitchen. The best part is they sell so many more amazing handmade farmhouse signs and beaded garland where that comes from. Their “farm sweet farm” sign is definitely on my wishlist. So make sure to head over to The American Farmhouse and fill your home with their stunning handmade signs, enjoy.
