Hello loves, I hope you guys are enjoying my latest home decor blog posts. If you have been reading my blog for a while than you know that although I loveeeee shopping I’m definitely a girl on a budget. I like to describe it as having champagne taste on a beer budget haha. For that reason it is taking me forever to complete my apartment decor which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love having projects to keep myself busy and I have a feeling this is one that will be never ending. Although home decor can be pricey I wanted to show you some of my favorite farmhouse decor pieces that are insanely cute and all under $50! You can’t go wrong. I honestly refuse to pay more than $50 for anything so I will be keeping these types of posts coming. Just click the links above to check out the pieces for yourself. Enjoy!

Hello again lovelies! If you hadn’t already noticed I have been making some changes to my blog. Not necessarily to the look of it but more about the content. Up until now The Chic Geek consisted of mostly fashion related posts but since I have an apartment of my own the decor posts have become more frequent. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love fashion and beauty and will be sporadically posting my outfits or products I love but I’ve decided to be focus on my true passion, antique farmhouse decor. Me and my boyfriend spend our weekends searching for amazing finds at local consignment shops and since I finally have a place to display my pieces I cannot wait to show you guys! I was super excited to show you guys the one corner in my apartment that needed some serious TLC. For the last two months it was completely empty and I couldn’t figure out what to put there until I stumbled across this amazing distressed hutch at my favorite local consignment shop. After that I was on a mission to complete it! I definitely still need to add some finishing touches but I couldn’t wait to show you my progress. Most of the pieces are from local shops but a few pieces are from my newest obsession, The Magnolia Market. If you love farmhouse decor as much as I do than you have to check out the show Fixer Upper on HGtv. This adorable southern couple work together to repair complete fixer uppers while putting their farmhouse touches on the finished project. They also have an amazing shop where they sell affordable farmhouse home decor items and I have fallen in love. Just click the links below to check out the items for yourself and make sure to keep an eye out for more decor posts.
Hello loves, I may not do many makeup tutorials but as a girl and a blogger I do love all things beauty. I wanted to show you guys my DIY vanity because it’s simple, rustic and best of all FREE! If you have been following my blog recently than you know that we moved in December and my boyfriend was sweet enough to build the majority of our furniture, with my help of course. See, when we found out that we had gotten the apartment we had less than two weeks to prepare and furniture was not definitely not in the budget. Lucky for me I had a crap load of wood sitting around and a handy boyfriend. Before then I had been using a piece of plywood as a shelf that I attached to the wall and the same vanity stool that I had since high school so I was definitely ready for an upgrade. I didn’t want something too much bigger than my original shelf but I still wanted it to look like an actual vanity that you could buy in a store. First, he used a table saw to cut the top out of a piece of plywood. He then cut the legs for both the vanity and stool out of a pallet. He sanded all of the pieces and nailed them together. I then got the idea to use some left over dowels to make the cross underneath. Once it was all put together I prestained, stained and finished both pieces. I hung up a gold mirror that I already had from Tjmax and bought the chair cushion from World Market and wallah, the perfect rustic vanity!!
