Hello loves, ahhh I finally found a different view of this space and I’m head over heels in love! If you guys didn’t already know we have an open concept living room, dining room and kitchen space with a loft above. It’s actually one of the reasons I wanted this house to begin with. Not going to lie this entire place looked pretty different when we bought it back in May and I wasn’t too impressed. But when we first walked in and I was greeted by the gorgeous wide stairway with cathedral ceilings that look onto the open loft space above my heart dropped. It was literally like all of the homes I had dreamed about as a child and I just knew it was the one. Also, it had the perfect open concept layout which was a must on our list. The only thing was it literally looked like a cabin, with yellowish pine floors and cabinets, purple-blue laminate countertops, cream walls and a moose chandelier to top it all off. Unfortunately I knew it all had to go and I knew it would be a pain in the ass to do. Especially refinishing the floors, that was the worst of all! It may be because we didn’t have the right floor sander for the first two days of the project but if you have ever tried sanding, staining and polyurethaning an entire house by yourself than you may feel my pain. Luckily it was totally worth is because I love our dark and aged looking wood floors now! We also painted all the walls and cabinets white which also became a nightmare when we realized how tall our walls were in the living room. That required some serious skill to get that done haha. The last things that really changed the look of this space were our Ardex feather finish concrete countertops and our antique chandelier. These projects were actually quite simple. Click here to check out our DIY concrete countertops and as far as the chandelier, I seriously found this little beauty for free on Craigslist and spray painted it black. And wallah, our beautiful and bright farmhouse kitchen, living room and dining room space. Hope you guys like it!
